Seattle Family Photography - Jay - Mother of the Month
I see. That is what my job is. I see relationships, families, and love. Jay was one of those amazing mothers who came to me for family photography, and I knew it was special. Her son Grif, was like a sunflower following Jay and her light around the room. See their favorite photos, and mine.
1. Tell me a little bit about yourself, Jay, how you met. How you decided to have kids, what are your hobbies, what you do in your free time, etc.
My husband Matt and I met through a mutual friend after college. I had returned home to Boise and Matt had moved there recently for a job. Then our life of adventure together started. Due to Matt's upward career moves we lived in Baltimore, Miami, Boston and then moved to Seattle 5 years ago. We wanted children but waited awhile so we could enjoy our marriage and travel. Our daughter arrived 5 years after we were married and our son three years after that.
In our free time we love to go hiking, skiing and exploring the Seattle area.
2. Tell me about why you decided to have professional family, why you trusted me to take these special photos, and what you thoughts about the results.
We had never had a professional family photo taken before. I found out about Jennifer Loomis through Boyer Children's Clinic's Annual Auction. Boyer Children's Clinic is an early intervention education program for children with special needs. My son has Cerebral Palsy and so we have experienced and support these types of programs. I took a chance and bid on a photo shoot at the auction with Jennifer because I felt I could trust her past experience of working with kids with disabilities. She definitely delivered! She was very kind, fun and professional and we felt comfortable right away. Our photos turned out fabulous and we couldn't be happier!
3. Please feel free to include anything else you like that is interesting about you or your parenting philosophy. AKA books you read, or like whatever. I am particularly interested in raising your two children together as Grif is disabled and Georgia is not. Any words of wisdom for parents would be wonderful. You are such a gracious loving mother. I can’t wait to hear what you say.
As all mother's know, raising kids is a wonderful blessing but also a lot of work! Because my son takes extra care and can take a lot of attention away from my daughter, I try to set aside special times for just the two us or the three of us to spend quality time together. I hope through her experience of living with her brother she learns compassion, empathy and acceptance of people with all types of disabilities.
