Photographers

Becoming a member of Jennifer's team is a highly selective process. Photographers must have at least ten years of professional experience as a photojournalist and photographing people. Each woman has trained and apprenticed extensively with Jennifer and undergone countless portfolio reviews and critiques of their performance and work. If you would like additional information on working with any of Jennifer's photographers, please don't hesitate to contact us.

For photographers who want to join our team but you don’t live in one of our areas of coverage, we are looking for you to be a part of a new section of our website called Jennifer Recommends. Please contact us.

Jennifer Loomis
Photographer

Jennifer Loomis is known as the premier fine-art maternity photographer, best known for her groundbreaking work with the pregnant nude and for helping society redefine the image of the pregnant female form. Since she started Jennifer Loomis Photography in 1994, Jennifer has photographed more than 1,500 women and their families, from welfare mothers to the wives of celebrities. Known as a pioneer in the genre, Jennifer is one of the first maternity photographers to successfully combine a previous career in photojournalism with fine-art photography. Her work has caught the attention of another pioneer, Annie Leibovitz, whose studio manager began referring maternity clients to her in the '90s. Jennifer operates studios in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York. She recently published her first book, Portraits of Pregnancy: The Birth of a Mother (Sentient, $24.95) which combines sensitive and compelling fine-art photographs with stories and quotes about the challenges and triumphs of becoming a mother, such as balancing motherhood and career, and infertility. Her work has been prominently featured in the media, including Entertainment Tonight, TIME Magazine, CBS's The Morning Show, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, Fit Pregnancy, Pregnancy Magazine, NPR, Good Morning America, and Inside Edition. Joelle Fiorito
Studio Maven

Joelle was born and raised in Seattle where she discovered her love of photography at an early age. When her mom came home with a plastic camera, bought for a buck at a garage sale, she immediately got to work hauling all of her dolls from bedroom to backyard, and strategically placing them around the yard in an attempt to capture their beauty. As the years went on, she’s happy to say that she used real people in her photos and her love of outdoor portraiture never left. Through a mutual friend, Joelle discovered Jennifer and came to work for her in the summer of 2007. She has the task of helping Jennifer manage her office as well as client film, prints and framing. She’s also known for spinning a good tune and has become the official music DJ, providing Jennifer with hours of new music to play in her three studios.

Salvador
Head of Security

Salvador
Head of Security

Salvador is a 9-year-old flat-coat retriever. Born in Seattle and rescued from the animal shelter by Jennifer, Sal overcame his childhood memories of abuse to connect with his passion - tennis balls and swimming. He prides himself on being able to find a tennis ball anywhere and being about to swim far out in the lake for hours in any weather. He earned the title, Head of Security, because he does defend Jennifer and her studio with a deep bark or growl when he sees or hears anything suspicious. He has been an advisor and life coach of Jennifer's for 9 years and constantly reminds her that she needs to go to the park.

Moss
Sleep Deprivation Assistant

Moss is a 15-year-old gray tabby and brother of Martin. Also born in Oakland, Moss too has traveled the United States. Moss spends most of his day sleeping in dark quiet places like the neighbor's basement or under the bed. Known as the vampire kitty, Moss shows up every evening around 8 PM. Not one to work hard, Moss is too lazy to be an advisor of Jennifer's, and cannot take credit for her success. But he protects her house from small and large rodents, and as a dog-hater, he regularly puts Salvador in his place. He prides himself on waking Jennifer up at 5 am every morning so she can start her daily routine of meditation, yoga, exercise and dog walking. Of course if the sun isn't too high, he likes to sit on her lap during meditation as a test.
